How to Write Captions and Hashtags with Publer's AI Assist
Generate platform-aware captions, hooks and hashtag sets inside the Publer composer using its built-in AI.
Staring at an empty caption box is the slowest part of publishing. Publer's AI Assist sits right inside the composer and can draft a caption, rewrite it in a different tone, or generate hashtags from your post idea. This guide shows how to go from a one-line idea to a finished caption with hashtags for a Reel or Short.
What you need
- A Publer account (AI Assist is available on paid plans)
- At least one social account connected
- A rough idea of what the post is about
Step 1: Open AI Assist in the composer
Start a new post, then click the small AI Assist icon above the caption field. A panel slides in with a prompt box and a list of quick actions such as Generate, Rewrite, Shorten and Add hashtags.
Step 2: Describe the post and pick a tone
Type a plain-language prompt like a short description of the video. Set a tone such as Casual, Professional or Playful, and a length. Keep the prompt specific; a prompt that names the topic and the audience produces a far better caption than a vague one.
Step 3: Generate and refine
Click Generate. Read the draft, then use Rewrite to get a new angle or Shorten to fit TikTok's tighter limit. Each click keeps your prompt but produces a fresh option, so you can cycle a few times before committing.
Step 4: Add hashtags and insert
Click Add hashtags to append a relevant set based on the caption topic. Trim any that feel off-brand, then click Insert to drop the finished caption and hashtags into the composer. Edit by hand from there as you normally would.
Example
Prompt: behind the scenes of editing this week's video. Casual tone, medium length. The result might read like a friendly two-sentence caption with a question at the end, followed by a tidy block of five to eight hashtags, which you then trim to the four most relevant before scheduling.
