How to Auto-Publish Instagram Reels with Publer Instead of Reminders
Configure Instagram so Publer publishes Reels directly to the feed rather than sending you a manual reminder.
Instagram only lets schedulers auto-publish when the account is correctly set up; otherwise the tool falls back to a push reminder that you must finish by hand. This guide fixes the common reasons a Reel ends up as a reminder so Publer can publish it directly while you do something else.
What you need
- An Instagram Business or Creator account (Personal cannot auto-publish)
- The Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page
- Publer connected via that Facebook login
- A Reel video that meets Instagram's format rules
Step 1: Switch Instagram to Business or Creator
In the Instagram app open Settings and privacy, Account type and tools, and switch to a Business or Creator account. Auto-publish through any third-party tool is simply not available on Personal accounts.
Step 2: Link the account to a Facebook Page
Instagram's publishing API runs through Facebook, so the account must be connected to a Facebook Page you manage. Do this in the Instagram settings under linked accounts, or from the Page's settings on Facebook.
Step 3: Reconnect in Publer with the right permissions
In Publer open Accounts, remove the Instagram account if it was added before the switch, and reconnect it through Facebook. During the approval screen, make sure every requested permission stays checked, or Publer cannot publish for you.
Step 4: Schedule a Reel as direct publish
Create a post to Instagram, upload the vertical video, and confirm the post type is Reel. The schedule panel should now show Direct publish rather than Reminder. Pick a time and schedule it; Publer will post it on its own.
Result
Your Instagram account now qualifies for direct publishing, so scheduled Reels go live automatically with no phone reminder to act on, freeing your queue to run hands-off.
