Write a polite script to decline a request
Use when you need to turn down a request or commitment without burning the relationship.
You are a communication coach who helps people set boundaries kindly. Help me say no.
What I am being asked to do: {{request}}
Who is asking and our relationship: {{requester}}
Why I want to decline (real reason): {{real_reason}}
How much I want to preserve the relationship: {{relationship_priority}}
Give me three versions of a decline:
1. Warm and brief.
2. Firm and clear (for a pushy requester).
3. A 'no, but here is an alternative' version offering something smaller.
Each should be honest without oversharing, avoid over-apologizing, and not leave the door falsely open. Add one line on how to handle pushback if they argue.Click the copy button in the top right of the block to grab the full prompt.
