Gemini lives directly inside Google Docs through the Help me write panel, so you can draft a section, rewrite a paragraph, or summarize notes without copying text to another tab. This guide enables it and runs a real drafting pass inside a document.

What you need

A Google account with Gemini available in Workspace
A document to draft in

Step 1: Open the Gemini panel

In a document, open the Gemini side panel from the top-right, or place your cursor on an empty line to bring up the Help me write prompt inline.

Step 2: Prompt with the goal and audience

Vague prompts give generic drafts. Name the format, the audience, and the length so the first draft is close to usable.

Step 3: Refine the draft in place

Insert the draft, select a weak paragraph, and ask Gemini to rewrite just that part. Iterating on selections beats regenerating the whole thing.
