How to Connect a Chatbase Bot to WhatsApp
Link your Chatbase agent to a WhatsApp number through the integration so customers can chat with your trained bot inside WhatsApp.
Chatbase can serve the same trained agent across channels. WhatsApp is one of the most requested because so many customers already live there. This guide connects your agent to a WhatsApp Business number so people message your bot the same way they message a friend.
What you need
- A trained Chatbase agent
- A WhatsApp Business account and a phone number not already on personal WhatsApp
- A Meta Business account to authorize the WhatsApp Business Platform
Step 1: Open the WhatsApp integration
Inside your agent go to Connect > Integrations and pick WhatsApp. Chatbase walks you through linking via the WhatsApp Business Platform, which is owned by Meta, so you will authorize through your Meta Business account.
Step 2: Verify the business number
Follow the Meta flow to add and verify your business phone number. Meta sends a code by SMS or call to confirm you own the number. The number must not already be active on the regular WhatsApp app.
Step 3: Map the number to your agent
Back in Chatbase, confirm the verified number is bound to this specific agent. If you run several agents, double-check the mapping so messages route to the right knowledge base.
Step 4: Send a test message
From your personal phone, message the business number and ask something your bot should know. A reply within a few seconds confirms the channel is live. If nothing comes back, recheck the number verification status in Meta.
Result
Customers can now reach your trained bot through WhatsApp, and every conversation still shows up in your Chatbase dashboard alongside web chats. Add a WhatsApp click-to-chat link on your site to drive people to the new channel.
