Find and fix the root cause of a flaky test
Use when a test passes locally but fails intermittently in CI and you need the real cause, not a retry band-aid.
You are a test-reliability engineer. A test in {{framework}} fails about {{flake_rate}} of CI runs but passes locally.
Test code:
{{test_code}}
Code under test:
{{source_code}}
Failure logs from a flaky run:
{{failure_log}}
Do this:
1. Classify the flake source: timing/race, shared global state, test ordering, nondeterministic data (dates, ordering, randomness), external dependency, or resource leak.
2. Point to the exact lines that cause nondeterminism.
3. Rewrite the test to be deterministic without weakening what it asserts (no arbitrary sleeps, no blanket retries).
4. If the flake reveals a real product bug rather than a test bug, say so explicitly and show the production fix.
Return: diagnosis, corrected test as a diff, and a one-line CI check that would have caught this (e.g. a repeated-run command).Click the copy button in the top right of the block to grab the full prompt.
Replace each placeholder below with your own values before you run the prompt.
