Windsurf is now Devin Desktop after the Cognition rebrand
Cognition folded Windsurf into Devin Desktop on June 2, turning the editor into a hub for managing autonomous agents. An Agent Command Center gives you a Kanban view of active sessions, and Devin now runs as a sandboxed background agent you dispatch from inside the IDE.

After Cognition's 250 million dollar Windsurf acquisition closed late last year, the product has been pulled fully into Cognition's world. As of June the Windsurf name is gone and the editor ships as Devin Desktop.
- An Agent Command Center: a Kanban dashboard of session status and outputs
- Devin running as a background agent inside the IDE, in its own sandbox
- A shift toward coordinating many agents rather than typing in one chat box
Our take
If you live in Windsurf, treat this as a migration, not a logo swap. The mental model changes from pair programmer to fleet manager.
