Parameters, Aspect Ratios, and Variations
Beyond the words, most image tools give you knobs: aspect ratio, how literally the model follows the prompt, stylization, and how to spin off variations. Knowing the few that matter saves you from re-rolling blindly when an image is almost right.
The knobs worth knowing
- Aspect ratio: set it for the destination. A 16:9 hero and a 9:16 story are different compositions, not crops.
- Prompt adherence: higher means more literal, lower gives the model more creative room.
- Variations: branch from a result you like to explore nearby options instead of starting over.
Compose for the ratio from the start
Generate at the aspect ratio you will actually use. Cropping a square down to a banner usually cuts off the subject or the negative space the image needs. Set the ratio before you generate, not after.
When something is close, do not abandon it. Use variations to nudge it and small prompt edits to fix one issue at a time. The fastest path to a finished image is iterating on a strong candidate, not endlessly rerolling from zero.
